Couch Remote (Chrome extension and phone remote) · Last updated October 20, 2026
Summary
Couch Remote lets your phone control a video playing in a browser tab you choose. It has no accounts, shows no ads, does not track you, and does not sell or share data.
What the extension accesses
- Only the browser tab you choose with “Control This Tab”. The extension finds the video on that page and applies your phone’s commands (play, pause, seek, volume, navigation, typing).
- From that tab it reads the video’s position, duration, play state, volume and the page or media title, so your phone can show them.
- It stores a random link ID on your computer so your phone link keeps working. This ID is not linked to you.
What is sent over the internet
Your phone and the extension exchange short messages through our relay server (remote.reelfeed.app) over an encrypted connection: your commands, and the video state and title described above. The relay only forwards these messages between the two; it does not store them, and it keeps no logs of their content. Like any web server, it briefly processes your IP address to deliver messages and to limit abuse.
What we do not collect
- No names, emails, passwords, payment details or account information.
- No browsing history; pages you do not choose to control are not accessed.
- No analytics, advertising or tracking.
Your control
Click “Stop Controlling” to disconnect at any time. “New Phone Link” in the extension’s settings replaces your link so old links stop working. Removing the extension deletes everything it stored on your computer.
